Is there a internet address where I can see the daily price of softwood lumber and
also the price of 2x4 studs...

Mainly interested in prices in the Eastern US...

Is there something called the Boston Studwood price????

Thanks...

Ron Wenrich

Why would you need a daily price?  The closest thing I can come up with is the futures market to show daily fluctuations.  Here's a free one:

The futures market reflects current prices and some extra for market expectations.  Right now, it looks like the softwood market is on a slide.  It could be due to lower housing start expectations or increased timber sales by the government, or increased mill capacity.  Its a thinly traded market.  Click on the chart, and you will see where prices are headed.

The lumber market is based on a railcar of 2x4s.

Thanks for the info... I think that is what I was after.. I was trying to figure out the
price trend for my sawlogs....as you say it looks as if the direction is downward...

Prices have been dropping locally and input costs rising !!!!!!!!

Hardwood prices will mirror softwoods by about 4-6 months.  That's the amount of time it takes to go from rough building to finish trim and furniture.
