A year and a half ago I sawed some wood for a high school classmate.  He had some old maple logs laying around and I made 4 quarter from them.  He mentioned how badly they looked and wondered if they were even worth sawing.  This past spring his son took some of it to his school shop class and made this.

Yep, junk wood into a treasure box. :)  Fine craftsmanship and beautiful lumber.   Well worth the sawing and waiting for the logs to spalt.

This same customer had me return to saw again this fall.  He had a pile of (for this area) large maple logs and had me saw only half.  Is he intending to let the rest spalt?  :D
