Jonsered 2050 repair job
« on: November 27, 2005, 07:39:48 AM »
Wanted to pass this one on - Place where I work was going to junk this saw, it had been to the shop, came back as "needs bearings" Was deemed to expensive to fix.  One of my motto's has always been "if it's free - it's for me"  - They said - take it - Pulling the cord slowly, it hit a point where it would stop -  most of the time. I tore it down - [easy saw to work on i have to add]  Inside the head, was a tiny piece of brassy looking metal - but what?  The ring [only 1 on this saw]  was 2/3's siezed in the groove, I broke it out in pieces, new one 13.00.   Bearings were fine - Re-assembling, there was this rattle - coming from the carb - took it apart, found the screw missing from the choke plate!  Source of mystery metal found - Anyway, it's all back together, runs fine - Nice used saw for 13.00 and some labor time at my bench.
I was the smartest 16 year old I ever knew.

Now there is the kind of project I like 8) Free and cheap to fix. I too have met some people who were too quick to properly troubleshoot . This summer I got a Toro electric start mower with a seized Suzuki engine. on trade. It had been in the shop a month before so the customer decided to heck with it. Power drive did not work either.
The electric starter drive had failed jamming the flywheel and the transmission cable adjuster was loose. ::) Works just fine now.
