question about a log truck

I would say that you have a good deal on your hands but the gas motor is a pig on fuel . that being said i would recomend swaping in a diesel engine. an old v6 detroit would fit in the engine bay and with a turbo it would net you about 250 to 300 horse power depneding on what series you wnet with. another choice would be an 8.2 GM diesel . it i a v8 and is common to your truck with a turbo makes about 265 HP. i don't know how well the turboed ones hold up but the no turbos are almost bullet proof.

That GMC loader looks like a HINO (I think that is how it is spelled), it is an import from Japan?

I knew someone with a Mit. 4x4 cab over, it was a nice little truck, they used it for snow plowing and everything else. Parts are expensive for sure, the good thing is it hardly ever needed them.
