I am going to bring my old 372 back to life. I have got a crankshaft that is in good shape (smooth and tight) and a new boxed piston kit. With some new bearings and gaskets it should be a goer 8)  but. I would like to make sure the cylinder is as smooth as it can be first, it isn't scored at all but is a little marked.
Do I just rub it down with wet/dry paper or emery cloth ?
Thanks

you can clean it with some carb cleaner or somthing similar and then look for any traces of aluminum transfer.
if there is any it can be removed with some fine emery paper (perhaps 400 grit).
if you use the emery make sure you spend some time washing it out real well ,you dont want that grit messing up your new engine.
when reassembling its a good idea to use a bit of mix oil on the bearings and cylinder to help with the initial startup
