Anyone her changed a Hud-son chainsaw mill over to a band?
I recently got the Woodbug up and running and i like it better than the Hud-son. It gives me a longer cut(17'), better dog system and a detachable saw/carriage. I also like the vertical saw mount vs Hudson's horizontal. So i have this Hudson, 14' of real heavy 3x3 angle track and a carriage set up for 28-30" logs and i would like to convert it to a band. That way i will have the best of both worlds. I also have a Tecuhmseh 6.5 horse go cart engine that is almost new, would this work on a band? I have heard that Hud-son uses the same carriage and track for both mills, but the chainsaw mill is no longer on their website, so i guess it is getting phased out. Sorry for all the questions, but i am curious and have zero experience with bandmills.

6.5 hp will run a band saw, but it will be painfully slow about doing it.  Bandsaws are one of the things where more horse power is always welcome. My band mill is running a 16hp briggs and I wish I had a 30hp engine or better.

When the engine slows, the band slows, and can cause the band to dive or rise in the cut and produce wavy lumber.
I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok, I work all night and sleep all day

How bout that WoodBug... awesome chainsaw mill.

I've cut many board feet with mine, but I just sold it to a neighbor. I like the
saw cut markings it leaves. Makes cool looking wood for furniture, and beams.

I'm even going to trade sawing with my Woodmizer for the use of the WoodBug
once in awhile, when I want that effect.  I take a belt sander to it, and knock
off the top edge, and it's just awesome looking..   8)
