Got a pair of rafters up this weekend, wasn't able to work much on the cabin as it has been raining now for 5 days in a row. But i did manage to get my ridge up and my rafter templates for both sides so this weekend I'm good to go. Boy did the river rise a lot. Won't be no fishing for a couple of weeks because it will take that long for it to come down.

I help build a 30' x 55' two story house out of all 4"x 4" in south east Alaska a few years back. Lot of time spent on a project like this. Keep up the good work, and catch a nice fish now in then.

I got word that the Miramichi River has a good run of salmon this season. Better tie on a fly and do some water whipping. I've had some of my best fishing in high water as long as there is not much woody debris and vegetation floating in it, the fish are more active.  ;D

When are you excepting reservations at the camp? ;)

Sbishop

PS. the salmon run is on, i heard them jump yesterday in the pool in front of the cabin....I'm going to dig out the rod next weekend for sure!

This one has been great to watch. Super, super job Sbishop. Truly an inspiration to all of us who would love to do the same thing. Keep up the good work and rain be dammed.

There's going to be a lot of good times spent in that camp. Some will surely stick in your mind when your a grampa.  ;D  I know some of the good times I spend was with my grandparents and their sporting camps and in fishing camps along salmon rivers. My grandfather still has 4 standing, on two different sites, he built over 50 years ago.  8)

Its certainly comeing together now, looks great Sbishop, must be hard to tear your self away and head back to the "real world"

We could do with some of your rain down under, be carefull how you curse it, Huey the rain god might decide to teach you a lesson like he's doing to us. ;) If it ever does get dry up there are bush fires much of a concern around your cabin? no doubt the river would make a good firebreak.

One thing is for sure, there is lots of moose over there. Hope ya bag one. My old stomping grounds was a little west of there in the Little Southwest/North Pole Region. We stayed in warden's camps and logging camps and on occasion with a friend at Robinson's Ridge. When they started opening up that area with logging roads, it was like herding cattle with all the moose. We would see 10 easy on every fishing trip. They liked the roads, a lot easier walking. :D The deer where plentiful to, until the mature coniferous were all harvested. There was nice deer paths along every lake shore. Best years of my life.  :)

Cabin's looking good.

Another friend of mine and i snow-shoed back in yesterday and removed some snow from the roof, there was a lot more then i thought, some place had close to 5ft and it was packed hard. They were calling for wet snow and rain tomorrow so i thought I'd better be safe then sorry!!!!

Didn't have to worry about falling off the roof, we just slid right off into the snowbank!!!!   8)
