In NYS you have no legal right to put a mail box on the road rightaway, So says the road superintendent. They can knock down all the mailboxes they want. The only thing that saves us is most of the superintendent are elected.

The road cleaning crews here are not liable for mailbox damage. They are not even liable if they back up over your car if you get in the way.

In NYS road crews can intentional hit you car and nothing happens to them. They have the right of way and it is up to you to get out of the way.

I wanted tons of snow and we got it !!!!

Snow is amazing. It is so variable. This looks like nice innocent powder that should just slide off to the sides but it builds up in front of the plow.
A wider road would help. It was only 5 feet wide when i started to reclaim it.

There is about 2 feet of snow on the ground in this pic. I could only go about 10 feet and then back up and clean up and hit it again. Needed more weight on the truck ::)

Get that J5 of yours finished and just use that.  Tramp yourself a trail down and you're good to go.  Mother nature put that snow there and she'll take it all away eventually. ;D

int the picture your plow look straight ...... that not going to get you thru that stuff...... a straight push just..... piles the white stuff..... strong angle and small bites

Get out the welder and make up a "V" Plow................... nothing fancy just somthing to open that road up.............. split and oil drum and weld a couple tags on the outside edge of your plow and bolt it on... you only need a skid plate on the first foot of the V not cutting edge, you can clean up later !!!!! good luck

Think you got snow - this is my driveway -  :D :D - Just kidding - Found this pic online, upstate NY - The last 7 day lake effect snow -

I've seen that here in the 70's. But the snow depth was 4 feet, the roads where plugged with very hard wind driven snow. The snow plow was useless. They had to use escavators and snow blowers on graders. The banks were not far from the hydro lines.  ::)

In 1969 we had a storm here [nw ct.] - where you could find level snow, it was over 3' deep, drifts were 10 - 15 ft, up on buildings, closed some roads for a week. I remember the wind, 50 - 60 mph, bitter cold.  A lot of roads got dug out with payloaders, there were cuts close to these, the drifted snow packs like cement. My cousin & I drove a JD 350 dozer right up US Rt. 7 that morning, there was about 1 lane left open.  My '61 Impala had become stuck at the farm the night before, had to leave it. Next day, not a bit of snow for 2 -3 ' around it, under the hood though was packed with snow. Worst storm I remember here, I was a senior then, school was closed a week.  The garage I worked at was next to the RR, a few days after, the train came through with a V-plow on it - What a sight that was - If you'd been standing there, you'd have been burried.

I got hit by a plow and totally screwed me over.  Nothing you can do even if it is totally the plows fault. That guy got an earful when he got out of the plow and he got right back in - good thing, cuz I keep a tire iron down next to my seat.  No credit or money to get a new car at the time,  I had to drive a total piece of *#(@ til I could save enough to get a new one.  Karma got them, their town garage burned to the ground the followin summer  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Managed to find my mail box, it was broken off the post (twisted both sides of deck screws off almost 1 broke I got the others out and put the somewhat un-damaged box back onto the NEW post that I put in back in November when it was still warm.)   anyhow I forgot to take the camera out there where we had more snow but took a few pics here in mansfield ohio. where I cleaned up a bit.

mostly drifts but are hard to see with the digital pics.  not a lot of definition in a all white seine.

Well if we get that snow now, maybe it will be drier this summer instead of raining or showering every day.

Suppose to be another storm this week by Thursday'ish. Might pass to my south though. ;D
