OK, I know that it was only 43° here this morning, but I just had to light it up.  That Red Oak burning smelled good when I went out to get my paper.

We had 17° a couple of mornings in Colorado, but that's fun.  It doesn't count.   :)

Yesterday at the house it was 31 and clear in the morning. Out in the bush it was 19 and hard frost like in the winter before a mild spell. Well, you guessed it. 65 degrees today and 1 inch of rain.

Sunday night out there in the back country there was 2" of snow which melted off by 3:00 pm on Monday. The roads out there never thawed all week, unless a spot of sun hit the road over the tree tops in spots. Was only in the 30's all week. I would drive down those sandy roads and it sounded like I was being sand blasted under the car. The tires were picking that frozen sand up. It's tough to cut this time of year, the sun is in your face all day (on a clear day), just over the tree line.  :-\  Sun is gone by 6:30 and come this Monday, gone by 5:30. ::)

I kept my little spark alive today and threw a couple of sticks on a few minutes ago.  Our weatherman is calling for a freeze warning tonight.  Supposed to get to 31°.   ;)

It's amazing how what's normal in some locations is unbearable in others.  I think that we spoil easily.  ;D

First fire here tonight also. Three weeks ago had a whole new heat and AC system installed. Well the furnace came on a couple hours ago and i thought a fire in the fire place is more pleasent and cheaper. Was 32 here this morning and supposed to be 29 in the morning. Good weather for outdoor people. bg

Anyone on heart meds is always cold up here, even in summer. Also, heavy smokers are always cold around here, don't want a window open for a bit of fresh air, they shiver like a wet dog. ;) I get a chuckle sometimes. :D  In the winter I wear a couple layers of wool with sweater and a scarf is used if windy. Bitter cold I'll haul one of them carhart thin insulated coats over me. If you play like I do, it's too hot with those arctic snow suits or parkas on. Now ask me after a day of wind sailing on the ice and let'n the wind do the work. Might need the full suit then, but I doubt it with wool on. :D I've tried the synthetic stuff in all forms and it's not even close to wool for my comfort zone. ;D

I was born and raised in Michigan, I've lived in South Carolina for 34 years and I think it feels cold at 40 now, I remember running around bear foot in shorts and t-shirt in Michigan when It was 40 and I was 40 years younger.

I have to keep the shop door open when I'm burning a fire in there in the winter. Low ceiling and small space heats up quick and hot.  ;D It's insulated, so a fire can out and the temp stay above freezing for days. :) With wood heat your walls get heated up. Nothing produces a sustained warmth like wood. ;D
