Hopefully the cabin has not been stolen  :).

Well, they did come back again.  I updated the "Thieves" thread.   :-\

My time was very busy but it did not look like I did much of anything.

First, I needed to remove the AC duct from the air handler in the Cabin and splice it straight through.  With that done, the only thing left to do with the new AC/Air handler is to run the line set and connect the compressor.

I had to run an electrical service from the Cabin breaker box to the Addition breaker box.  Then run a #6 neutral from from the Addition breaker box to the outside power meter.

That all sounds simple enough and it really was, it just took time.

Insulate the mud room ceiling and then nail up the 1X8 T&G Cedar ceiling is next.  The wall behind the breaker box will not be paneled until the AC line set is done.

I have gained some Cabin Addition time because of the rain and wet & soggy ground.

First, I installed the insulation in the ceiling and installed the T&G ERC.  Working alone with T&G overhead was tricky.

The sapwood inclusion  boards were used for the ceiling.

Another view.  With the ceiling finished, I moved on to the individual storage areas.

Sorta like cubicles, but with shelves and a clothes hanging rod in each.  Each person will have their very own storage area.

Another view.

The other side of the mudroom gets a much larger space.  I can't build the lower shelves until I get the AC line set in and connected, hopefully next week.

Looking into the mudroom showing the cubicles on the right and the air handler, etc. on the left.

The "blue" wall will be painted a brownish color.

only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,

Lynn, I like the locker configuration in the mud room.  I have plans that I got from a Fine Woodworking article for a built-in for the Elm House entry room that uses a similar dedicated alcove style.  I move at a much slower pace than you so who knows if it will be done before the end of July.

Thanks Guys.  I am sorting through my list of stuff to take and plan to be at the Cabin at least until Thursday.

Gotta saw next week.

Lynn, the ERC is looking spectacular!  Thanks for taking the time to share this work with the rest of us!  We don't have any cedar at all in South Central Alaska but we have plenty of Spruce and White Birch if you ever want to work a trade  ;D

I did indeed have a few productive days at the Cabin.  The first order of business was to T&G enough of the flooring to get me past the closet.  I used the same T&G method described in Reply #376 on page 19.  A Makita hand power planer for jointing, and a Bosch router.

This time I did use a Sure Form (sp?) block planer to chamfer the edges of the tongue so that they slipped into the groove easier.

Then the belt sander with 36 grit as a "scrub sander" to smooth any irregularities in the sub-flooring.

I used house wrap as my vapor barrier.

I am absolutely thrilled at how the flooring is going down.  Since this is a cabin, I am simply surface nailing it with 15ga. finishing nails.  At the beginning, I had one 3' section that I needed to remove and it was then that I found out just how well the flooring is fastened down.  I only put down about 1/3 of the flooring this time.

A closet will be built in one corner of the Addition which will take care of the exposed AC duct.  The right side of the closet will have a lower ceiling.

Here I have paneled the left side of the 4' closet and have begun paneling the interior.

I missed it....how do you cut the groove as in T&G?

Looking like great progress being made. Thanks for the pics.

QuoteI used house wrap as my vapor barrier.

Don't think it is a vapor barrier, but is a wind barrier.

In this case it might be good to use the house wrap instead of the vapor barrier, as now it can breath and not keep moisture in.

Yup, bad choice of words on my part.  The subflooring is not T&G so there are cracks.  This also allows the flooring to "breath" and prevents moisture from being trapped between the flooring and subflooring.

No more flooring can be laid until the entrance door is installed and the wall is opened between the Addition and the main Cabin.

The flooring will be stained some shade of brown and then sealed.  Presently, I have it temporarily covered with house wrap to prevent discoloring, etc. while I work on the closet.

David, here is the MLCS T&G router bit set that I am using.

Beautiful job on the cabin MM. I can imagine it is just a joy when you go there and open the door and the aroma of the cedar hits you each time. Enjoy the sawing and the cabin.

Lynn, these bits don't look like bits I will probably be able to get a SLOWE'S. Did you order these online?
I thing I would like to get me a set of these bits and experiment. Thanks.

Since Monday's rain gave me another day off today, I loaded up the "modification angel" and headed to the Cabin for a day's work.  The first little item to take care of was very simple.  The air hose and power cord needed to be rolled out from the shop to the Addition.  Yup, simple enough, except that when I threw the air hose onto the porch, my hand hit a piece of metal roofing.   :-\

Four "butterfly bandages and a couple of sports band-aids later I am finally ready to work.

The "modification angel" was true to form.  She decided that the closet needed to have a 32" door instead of a 24" door so I removed the studs and got busy.  As usual, she was right and the closet came together nicely.  You can see the step down on the ceiling on the right to accommodate the AC duct.

My next task is to case the closet doorway and install the door.  While I am in the door casing mood I will probably hang the mudroom door.

Thank goodness you didn't drop anything on those pretty feet.  :D

I hope you cleaned that cut out. A hand wound can get bad when cut by metal.

When I get a cut like that I usually have to wrap duct tape a time or two around my hand to keep the bandage stay put.  OUCH!!.  Armand

That could leave a braggin' scar (we need a bandaged smiley).
Those butterflies are vastly under rated.  Saved many a stitch with a properly applied butterfly.
