Stihl RS chain vs. Stihl RSK chain
« on: January 15, 2004, 10:43:28 AM »
I have recently noticed that Stihl offers a new chain, at least it is new to me.  I have always used the RS for my saws and I have no complaints.  Great chain!  Does anyone know if there is a difference between the two?  In the book they pretty much say the same thing, but the RSK is for big timber for bars over 20".  I guess I am just wondering if that is the only difference.  Is the RSK a faster cutting chain?  Thanks guys if anyone can help me.

RS is full chisel chain (round ground ) and the new RSK is square ground chisel chain ... works the best in softwoods..dulls fast in hardwood..both are great though..hope this helps ya man

Those "Rapid Super"s are a great chain aren't they?

Stihl also makes Rapid Super in what they call the "L" version square ground. Can anyone comment on this chain's performance as compared to round ground Rapid Super?
