Well Iv just about had enough of my mates chainsaw.
You will have to excuse my spelling esp this time of night well actually its just started the morning.
So I have a 285s Shinny I'll call it Shinny because most of the time shindiawa is hard for me to spell and im not up to scratch with spell check.
Right here goes --saw will idle but idles at 4000-4500 no chain spin. Recommended in the user manual online 2800-3200rmp.When I adjust either the low speed or the idle I cannot get the saw to go below 3800rpm at end of cut it dies, next it wont start like its flooded, will fire on choke after a few pulls than push choke in for fast start or whatever its called and will start after a few pulls then a quick blimp to disengage fast idle.
I have pressure/vac tested saw all good
I pressure tested carb when dry no fuel slow leak ,with fuel no leak
Cleaned tank vent and tested (wasnt very dirty to start with)in my opinion works fine.
Havnt done a resent compression test. But still fills good.
Piston inspection looks good.
Have cleaned the carburetor and replaced diaphragm's.
Checked needle height good.
replaced fuel filter. Lines tested good.
I have tried other carburetors mixing and matching but cant get a close enough mix to the wt702a that it uses.
Cannot find a secondhand wt 702 or equivalent. Can find new ones but they are in usa i'm in Australia postage and the aussie dollar all adds up.
And does anyone know what the original settings for this carburetor are?I pulled the limiters of so I could clean inside the low and high.Pretty sure they where around two turns out which i was surprised.I cant remember exactly was to long ago.
Hopefully someone can help.
Thanks for reading.
Oh I forgot to mention I have tried the adjustment screws form 3quarters out to 2 and a half turns out in small increments.
