A tree faller working at a private property in the Fraser Valley has died after the bucket he was working in broke off its boom and fell several metres to the ground.

The accident occurred in the 24000-block of 52A Avenue in Langley Township about 6 p.m. PT Thursday.

Emergency crews arrived and performed CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RCMP, BC Coroners Service and WorksafeBC are investigating.

No word on whether it was a structural or hydraulic failure.
