Over 40" bars for MS660?

Can anyone direct me to a source for an 40-50" bar for an MS660?  Stihl goes up to 36" and to get longer with them I'd need an MS880.  Trying to stay lighter than this.

Oregon must have made them at one time at least because I have a 42" in the garage .

Well yeah Cannon would make you up one 7 feet long if you wanted .Good bars but costly .

just bought a forester 42" bar on ebay for 85 bucks.  check there i think the fella has more...

my stihl dealer ordered me an aftermarket 42" bar, I think it's a GB.

He's got a slabber. So probably for neatly felling and/or trimming big logs.

The one I have has had the slot milled out to 084 size .It seldom gets used .Fact the last four years the only action the big 84  gets is 2 or 3 GTG's a year .

It may see some run time later this summer as I have a 100 foot bur oak to flop for a guy that is a tad over 4 feet at the cut line .

Wood.      I saw with an LT-40 super and a Peterson swing/slabber.  Mostly trimming bumps or butt flare off to get clearance on either mill, but sometimes wanting to trim ends of bigger logs. Mostly I'm reaching in from the end of the log.  Frequently use the full capacity of my 41" bar, not uncommon to be unable to complete such cuts without assuming difficult posture.    With this saw/bar combo I like to keep my feet on the ground not climbing on the log or mill.  I want to reduce the weight of my setup, and get up to a 47-50" bar capability.  Thanks for your responses so far, looks like a 50" bar for 660 can be had in Cannon and can actually be bought at Bailey's under the Woodland Pro name (haven't checked with them but the WP have the Cannon numbering).

Thats good your thinking ahead, reaching or climbing around on a piece of equipment with a saw is a accident waiting to happen.

Well I did it, came home with a MS660 and 36" Rollomatic ES bar.   Maybe order a 50" bar and some skip chains later for the MS660 if it seems wise.  Will carry along the 090AV/41" bar for a while to cover things.

Interesting thread because I am presently looking for a 42" bar for an MS660. I did confirm that Stihl only makes up to a 36" for the 660 but other bar manufacturers make them. I see the Forester bars on the bay  but I haven't been overly impressed with their stuff. I don't run a mill much (have an Alaskan but don't use it presently) but we have a lot of large trees here in the south and sometimes the 30" I have isn't enough. I realize that 42" is a bit beyond the ideal for the 660 but for occasional use figure it will do fine. Best price I have found thus far is about $200 for an Oregon bar and three skip tooth chains. I am not ready to drop that much and figure that sooner or later I'll encounter a good used one for a nicer price.

Stihl's MS660 are not famous for putting out alot of bar oil for a 90 plus cc saw. That's why Stihl recommends up to 36".
I got a couple of Oregon 36" bars for my 066 and their both in .050 gauge. The narrower bar groove takes a little less oil to keep things lubed.

I have a MS660 with a 32" bar i use for stumping,like Holman Tree said they don't oil very good,went on this forum AL Smith gave me a part # for a high output oil pump,went to Sthil dealer and ordered it,much better, now you can see oil in the chain,before on a big cut the bar and chain was bone dry.I would recommend this upgrade with a big bar

FWIW in this area most 066's run 36" bars .A standard 066 will oil a 36" with no problem unless something is wrong with the oiler .

Now when you get talking about an Ms 660 with all the EPA hype and reduced power it most likely has a reduced output oiler I'd imagine .It seems to that bunch that a little chain oil on the ground equates to the wreck of the Exon Valdez . : How silly .

My new MS660 has a screw on the bottom to vary the amount of oiling.   It is set in the middle of the range.  I haven't used it yet but will turn it up if my 36" bar isn't oily.   S Grinder how much was that higher output oiler for your MS660?

Terrifictimbersllc,The up graded oil pump was $82.34 retail,part #1122-640-3201.Now Sthil issued a technical bulletin #34.2009 stating that "in the future,oil pump #1122 640 3205 will be replaced by oil pump #1122 640 3201 on both flush and wrap handles on versions of the MS650 MS660 Magnum.If you just bought the saw and is brand new you might have the up graded version,mine is almost 2 years oil and did not.If you cut a couple of logs close to 36"and they are dry,you'll know how it oils very quick

Continuing to shop for a long bar for my MS660 for occasional freehand trimming of flare on large logs.

Have found an Oregon OR 423RNDD025 at Bailey's, 42 is for 42", 3 is for 063, RND is replaceable roller nose, and D025 is the mount for "small Stihl" (12.1mm slot).  This bar is $120 at Bailey's.

Cannon has CSB-S1 50 63 4 (S1 is the "small stihl" 12.1mm slot for MS660/MS460, 50 is 50 inches,  63 is 063 ga, and 4 stands for 404 pitch).  Bailey's has it and says they can swap on a 375 roller nose which makes it a CSB-S1-50-63-3 (last 3 is for 375 pitch).  This bar is $300 at Bailey's.

Wondering if these are the only choices for over 40" bar for MS660.  I already have a 36" so I am thinking get a 48-50".  Still wondering if there are others to choose from.

I've gotten my two longest bars (used) off ebay. The 54" is a Cannon, and the 60" is an unknown brand. I don't use these often, but they come in handy when needed. The 60" hanging on the 090 is really a sight! ;D
