My wife reminded me last night that since we have been at the beach the only thing that I got excited about was seeing a free pine log listed on cocoa beach craigslist.

I live next to Cooks Forest in pa. Last week my family took me there for a cook out and fathers day party. After some great food, horsing around, and the kids playing in the streams we all decided to take a hike. We hiked up into this area called the Forest Cathedral. The whole family was on my case because i held everyone up as i stood there with my mouth hanging open in amazement. Im gonna say the ave. size of the larger trees was 36 to 40" in diameter. There were some im guessing were pushing 50". The heights had to be around 130 feet. Upon coming back we came across a forestry/ history building that had several interesting displays, one of which was a slab with rings dating back before George Washingtons time. Finding this nearly in my back yard just blew my mind.

Bedway, I sure you will visit again.  Did you see dead chestnut trees?

My wife and I spent last week in Williamsburg Va.  We saw so many huge trees. I had to remind myself we were there to see historic sites not trees.  Even so I had Tammy picture me in front of this large forked poplar we happened upon at Petersburg National Historic Site

Either those trees are huge or you are just a little guy  :D.

Sixacres,

Every time that I ride down the road and see a dead or dying tree, my first thought is wondering if I could get it on my trailer or not  :).

WDH,
I'm a long way from being a Little guy.  Maybe just a little unmotivated.  :D
Just looking at those trees is enough to for me to break a sweat.  But like you, if I can the trailer to the log or vis versa, I can load it.
