Well I for one don't like them. :'( :'( As the offbarer on the Deadhead mill, when you can double production, the sawyer can wearout his offbarer with these things. :D when we got the first blade and put it on the mill I was impressed with its performance. Just kidding bout not liking them, very good blade. As for commission, I should get a piece of that pie for getting the first one for our mill. ;D ;D
It only takes a little sawdust to become addicted. It's even better when you build your own. (HOMEMIZER a.k.a. HOMEY)

What about sharping these monkeysaver blades?Do they have a  resharp program? Will Woodmizer sharpen them?
                                                      Thankx Lenny

Fla._Deadheader

We sent our to Tenn. to be sharpened. They came back pretty sharp, but, we noticed they raised up at the very beginning of the cut, about 6" in, but cut fine and smooth once you kept cutting. Don'T know if the set is off a tad on one side or not.

WM won't sharpen any others blades.  We will have access to a WM sharpener and soon will try sharpening our own.

Biggest thing is they are razor sharp. MUCH sharper than the blades we got from WM and Suffolk. They are fairly hard, also, so hold the edge longer. We cut sand filled logs, and even washing with a hose, there is still sand in the crevices. Usually get 700-1000 ft of Cypress before changing the blade.

I have a friend who have used monkeys (most swedes do) for 12 years. He change them just BEFORE they get dull and resharp VERY little on his own Oregon grinder with a diamond disc. There is special clamps for chains and other for band blades, get the right or bouth!.
Angel 90* across and 10* down. 7-12 resharpings a blade. I´ve not heard anythig about teeth reset.

Ofcourse it´s better to find a local proffessinal resharper (I did)  but this works for him.

FeltzE

What particular blade are you running that you had such good results? 1.25 1.5 .043 -.049  pitch?

Eric

Fla._Deadheader

We use the 1¼" X .042 X 7/8 Pitch.  I think that is the same blade that EZ got to try.

Itried to get a demp blade from Cook's. They Don'T send a trial blade. They sell Lennox, among others. I think someone just posted that they recently started selling MunkforsSager's also ???

Dave sent me a free one.  they are the best band I have ever had on my mill.   I just sent out my last boxs of other bands to be sharpened.  when I am half way throughb them it is time to order new ones and the new ones will all be monkey bands.

Has anyone got to try one of the new lenox carbide tipped  ones yet?  (woodmaster CT I think they call it) I sent them an e-mail friday night asking to try one out.  We will see if they send me a free one.

Sweede

Did you say that someone makes a clamp to fit the Oregon chain grinder to sharpen bands with?

Speeking of sharpening where has solidwoods been?  I just sent my bands to him to be resharpened.  tryed to PM him to tell him they were on the way but havent heared back from him yet...

OK I ordered some monkey blades from Kenne-Saw, a cpl of 1.5 x .049 7/8 and 1.5 x .043 7/8 and they are going to send me a sample 1.25 x .0453 3/4 pitch to compare with my woodmaster C's

This means I'll have some 7/8 pitch blades to sharpen, back to switching setups on the sharpener again... bummer.

Yes! I had an Oregon with band blade clamps but gave my brother it. I send my blades for sharpening or build an automatic one.
He had to rebuild it for his chains. Ask Oregon or rebuild one for your blades. It can´t be difficult. (^__^)

Hey Teach, where did you buy your blades and how much were they?  I found them through Coleman for $13.75 each.

Thanks
Kirk

shopteacher

I git them at Kenne saw at 15.45, sounds like Coleman is a bit cheaper. Thanks

Called Kenne-Saw today and ordered more blades. Talked to David about some folks requesting a trial blade. He said they had to do something about the S&H which keeps going up ???

They have adopted a new policy, where they will furnish a free blade, IF a person buys a blade. That way, they come out close to even on shipping and boxing.  Being in the Shipping business, I can relate to that.

He says the response from the Forestry Forum has been great. He would like to respond on some topics, but, just doesn't have the time ::) ::) ;D ;D

Fla:
I spoke to David a couple of days ago and he said that my blade may be the last one for free.  He contemplated the one for one but since you referred me to him he let it slide 8)  I was hoping to have it today but it hasnt showed up yet.

Red Streak will send you 5 blades for free if you send in a proof of purchase from another brand.  Not a bad deal.  I have never used them but I bet I can draw a conclusion from those 5 blades ;D

Fla._Deadheader

And, just what Dealer is offering 5 Red Streaks for free???  Not that I would switch, mind you ::) ;D ;D

Minnesota_boy

I eat a high-fiber diet.  Lots of sawdust!

I talked to David today and he was going to put my trial blade in the mail.  He mentioned the buy one get one deal but when I spoke of the FF he said my blade would be in the mail today. 8)

I was impressed with the monkey blade.
It seemed like the saw didn't need as much "push" to go through the log.
