I think I'll miss the sawdust sticking to my sweat. 100% humdidity here in south jersey for a while now. Passing out is not funny, drink more....Water.

I'll second that Joanie!

I think I've had enough heat and that sun was really hot this summer!

You also need carbs and salt in your system. It helps me out anyway

Heatstroke is nothing to play around with Joanie. Get yourself one of those Igloo jobsite water cooler and fill it with ice and water each morning. Soak a big washcloth from it and put it on your head a couple times a day.

I can't imagine how you folks down south can work out in the sun in the summer. It's been brutal up here this summer, and I know that's its far worse down there.

Water, Gatorade, potato chips, water, small snickers bars, and more water. And don't forget rest breaks more often.

I just stocked up on Gatorade from the supermarket, on sale for $1 for 32oz bottle. I'll swear it gets absorbed straight into your system before it gets even halfway down your throat!

The Rain and snow can hold off for a while and I still need late day light to get caught up.
Little cooler is fine but lets not rush into this quite yet!! :D

Chuck White your region took a bath the other night I heard Oswegatchie River caught 4" of rain??

If it stayed that hot in the summer up here we wouldn't be thinning. As it is, I drink a gallon of water and it goes straight out the pores before it even reaches the bladder. :D

We have one fella who don't eat nor drink water all day. He's working on living a short life.

I don't know exactly how much rain fell, but it rained all night and the Grass River is up about 8 inches, of course that counts the run-off too.

We really needed the rain!

Ive had it with summer myself! I carry a gallon cooler and drink it down everyday ( somedays more than once, especially on roof jobs) Heat storke builds up in your body and takes less exposure each time it happens. Be very carefull and take breaks in the shade! I hate the dark at 5:00pm, but I'm ready for winter too.
Opportunity is missed by most because it shows up wearing bib overalls and looks like work.

Yup, been really really frustrating up here in NW Washington with 70-80 degrees and 50% humidty.  Exhausted from running my mill, relaxing in my chair, stacking lumber, and taking a ride on the motor bike. Need to take a break and drink some . . . . ice cream.  :-)

I have not sawed this week because the "misery index" was 100°+ each day.  It will be bushhogging today and tomorrow, but sawing next week when it is cooler.  It looks like a road trip saw job beginning Thursday.

Its important as a person gets older they know how to pace themselves in the heat or cold. The young and foolish go at things in a rush without thinking.Old timers have their own union and their the stewart. Looks like we're gonna get a little front over the weekend. After busting firewood in this misery this week, this cool spell will be golden.

Seriously... I LOVE the heat and humidity, but you have to make provisions.  Sunscreen and free-flowing water.  I'm 50 and when I'm not injured, I can work circles around my 20 year-old son.  He's great for a couple of hours, then he just quits.  I go until the job is done, drinking gallons of water and taking small breaks.  Small enough that I don't get stiff!  Bandmiller2 hit the nail on the head!

We've had an average summer here in East Texas but it was 102 yesterday and 101 today...that's the temperature, not that heat index stuff.

Supposed to be a front pass thru tonight and a low tomorrow in the fifties. We need some rain but the cool temps will feel great.

My boss does, he never sweats. If I wore sleeve in the summer I would melt.

One thing we can be thankfull for right now:  shorter days.  I can already notice the high heat occurs less hours and it is cooling better at night.   We are definately over the hump around here anyway.  8) 8)
