Hand Hewn Poplar Beams
« on: September 13, 2013, 01:35:20 PM »
I have four poplar beams and one cabin log left over from building my house six years ago. I have kept them with the thought of using them on a woodshop, garage, etc, but I need the space in my barn. Here are the nominal dimensions:

13-8 x 0-6 x 1-0 (the log)
14-0 x 0-8 x 1-1
19-0 x 0-9 x 1-2
22-6 x 0-8 x 1-3
21-6 x 0-8 x 1-3

These are about 150 years old and came from a cabin about 10 miles from where we built. There are a few soft spots in them, but for the most part they are in good shape. They have been stored under roof since the cabin was dismantled.
