Does anyone know of a app that will estimate the amout of firewood in a tree?

The total firewood in a tree depends so much on shape of the bowl (butt and higher logs) plus the limb wood that can all vary considerably between trees as well as between species.

But good estimates can be extrapolated from the calculator available on the forum or can be obtained by using the cubic foot equations for a truncated cone, given stump diameter and top diameter estimates.

Don't know of a specific app, but what information would you have available to give an app if there is/was one? More than dbh?
