some progress and success !
« on: December 20, 2012, 06:22:13 PM »
I started a thread titled how bad am I doing when I first joined up, I did manage to get a pic on there. Well it's been a few weeks and Finally I am gaining some ground! After raising the front corner of the house some 18+" and poring concrete footers and adding new 8x8 timbers, Things are starting to come together. I chose to build the floor in sections as I am reinstalling the timbers in under the floor in the same locations that they were. The hitch is I poured concrete piers and stood timber posts up 8' from either wall to support the beams that span the top of the walls. I need to point out I have never done anything like this project before .... ever....! So today finally I cut a tongue on a 6x8 timber did some tunneling with a huge rasp I bought at a flea market and installed it! NEW TO OLD!! I am very pleased! suction fit even the recess cut into the original beam fit! This is what I have dreamed of! milling it, and building it! Having to be creative with ever detail of every move you make! Custom, rustic crazy stuff I love it!! I hope you can see my progress pic's!
