They are built by Skill, model 1616 I think, but probably wrong. Those saws were sold as a lot of things, Husqvarna and Partner too.

No you are correct sablatnic, SKIL's 1616 was introduced in 1977 and the SPARTAN 34AV was introduced in 1973

Hello Theloggingkid,
Go back to Mike Acres site and check out Frontier Chainsaw Mark 1 [1973], then check out Pioneer/Partner 330 [1984].

Long history here, Frontier [Quadra Manufacturing Ltd] Trail, B.C Canada started out in 1972 with only 12 employees,  before being swallowed up by Electrolux and finally ceasing operations in 1993.
This little saw shared alot of different brand names and colors.
Making a living with a saw since age 16.

I have two early versions in one of my sheds which were freebies .

Nothing to brag about but they will cut wood .

My power tuff was a freebie as well ... it ran fine when I got it. All I did was put in a new fuel line and filter and sharpen the chain. I do have to admit I'm quite impressed with its performance.

I do have to admit I'm quite impressed with its performance.
And it's weight is impressive too, powerhead under 7 lbs.
Even though it was listed as a consumer saw, back in the day arborists and pulpcutters liked it too.

Not a complete knock-off, as they are colored differently. :D

I couldn't agree more. It's a great little weekend warrior saw for around the house or cottage.
