Last year I got 8 chickens and built a very strudy coup and pen for them with a timed automatic door to keep the chicken eaters at bay. Worked fine except for one hen who kept trying to roost under the chicken pen. Caught her and put her in house every 2 or 3 days. One night I did not check and a racoon got her. I set game camera next night and sure enough he was back looking for more. Next night I set my live trap and captured him. In order to change his mind about coming back I gave him a warm yellow shower and let him go. A hissed on coon is not a happy camper

. Idea is that he will associate that scent with bad exprences and stay away. Seems to work so far (about 2 weeks). Anybody else ever try using scent like that?

Sometimes I teach them not to come back with a 22.

Me too, lead poisoning!

An electric fence is a good deterent for coons too!

I give them a shot of lead to make sure they can't ever come back or produce more coons that will come back.....

I like fresh chicken also, but...I'd also associate that scent with my bad experience!!!

Now what for bait,cute blond ,case of beer ,nice juicy steak ,two thousand bucks in 10's and 20's .

I would NOT be coming back either

I have a MAJOR coon issue, he/she/it chewed into/thru the floor of my garden shed. It climbed inside and $#|t all over in there.

Then did the same to a junk car I had under a tarp for spare parts

I went to pull a blinker relay and pulled off the tarp stuck my head in thru the open door and met IT laying on the back seat area.

It wasn't happy and when the sight/smell

hit me I was really un-happy! I didn't have any of my armament with me so it climbed down & under the car. I came back w the 22 handgun but could not locate it. When I DO it will have some lead poisoning issues for sure

... but I would like to return the favor first the same way tree-farmer did with him receiving the same thing he left for me first!!!!!!

For now I'll settle for doing a bit of coon hunting

And when the scat was found on the deck, I would wash it down with bleach solution and that seemed to work to discourage them from revisiting the same area, which apparently they like to do.

I have no idea what is legal or otherwise regarding a so called federal law .There are ways though which are older than the hills of how rid oneself of varmits .

Rather than elaborate I'm certain a Google search will yield more ideas than you can shake a stick at .--I know how
