I received a very nice gift today from mesquite buckeye, Chiltepine seeds.  I'm always looking for something new to add to food and this pepper sounds fantastic.  Thank you, it is appreciated.  My ABT's will take on a new message of heat next summer. :D 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I planted 16 seeds and have 13 growing plants.  That's a great rate.

I now have 14 plants growing out of 16 seeds that I planted.  The use is to spice up food which I'll use in my ABT's for more fire.   8)   ABT's are great.  I use Biker Billy Jalapeno peppers with a hot ground Italian Sausage that I fry up first, mix with some Philly Cream Cheese after and stuff the peppers that have been cut in 1/2 lengthwise with the seeds removed.  I put a little shredded cheese (your choice on type) and wrap a 1/2 strip of Black Label Bacon around it.  They are then grilled indirectly over charcoal for about 45 to 50 minutes until the bacon is done.  They are fantastic. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I now have 21 plants growing.  I thought I planted 16 seeds and a little bit of seed remnants that I brushed off my hands over the plants after putting in the seeds.  Hopefully they all mature.

Put them in the hottest, sunniest spot you have. They won't disappoint you. ;D smiley_devil food6 smiley_devil_trident bat_smailey

I grow peppers, just Ace,the green ones. That hot stuff kills me. I wet the ground, than lay black plastic down. I get it from walmart,10'X25' about $10. I cut an "X" in the plastic, big enough for my garden towel and put a pepper plant in. I put rocks on the the edge and between the plants to hold down the plastic. Those peppers love it. We never grew them growing up. I had no idea what to do. Some guy told me this and I can pick peppers almost like tomatoes. I get so many peppers, I have to put a cage around them to hold the plants up. UPS guy came here and saw them and questioned me. I brought him down to the garden and that guy could not belive what he saw.

Chiltepines are an aquired taste. Once you get to likin' 'em it is hard to live without them. Sort of like Smoked SuckerSmoked Sucker. ;D 8) 8) 8) :snowball:

To start off, I'll say we had the coldest summer that I can remember since 1971.  Hardly any type of peppers wanted to grow in the yard and not much else either.  The ones I planted in my small greenhouse did grow and in September, I moved 3 of the plants into the house.  I have tons of green peppers on those with several turning red.  I've been making up ABT's lately since my greenhouse Biker Billy's are still growing fine.  No freeze yet.  I'm hoping to move a few more in and keep them growing over the winter.  I will be posting on seeds once more start ripening. More great news.  http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/10/14/water-temperature-of-the-great-lakes-is-over-6-degrees-colder-than-normal/

I think they are going to have to go back to the ice age thing and blame America for that.

The green ones are hot. You don't have to wait to use them. ;D 8) 8) 8) :snowball:

Only need to be red to get good ripe seeds to grow more. ;D :snowball:

They grew fine over the winter in a sunny window.  I kept the 4 hardiest isolated and I harvested a lot of peppers to eat into the winter months.  Anyway, 4 of the original plants are still growing great along with a couple of others that I won't keep over the winter since I only have so much room.  The purpose of this post is to let you know if you want some of the seeds to plant your own, PM me your name and address and after this years are dried, I'll collect the seeds and mail them to you.  They have a fantastic germination rate and are among some of the smallest seeds I've ever planted.  Any questions, ask away.   Thanks again mesquite buckeye.

I would be interested in some, I think I should have several packets of sweet corn seed (which in my mind is the best, everyone has a different taste, but we just moved and can't find anything) if you'd want to trade.  Our new place also had new windows put in a year ago and the old ones are still in the shop, I'm thinking a small green house build maybe this winter if time allows, don't know how else to use them.  Ok, other than an ice shanty, deer stand......
Seriously though, if it works out and you have enough I'll pm, glad it worked out good for you.

Yoopersaw

I'll have enough seeds for a least 6 people.  A plant puts out a ton of peppers.  PM me your name and address and as the seeds dry, I'll send them.  No need for a trade, but thanks anyway.  The pepper seeds are really small.

I love Chillipitins or as we call them, birdseye peppers. Like them mashed in a mocojete with some garlic, lime juice, and a little salt. I once had a Mexican fellow working for me when I did concrete work. He wondered off in the woods to take care of some urgent business and found a plant growing wild. He picked a handful to have with his lunch and put them in his pocket where he forgot about them. About mid afternoon I had to send him to the urgent care clinic due to the severe blistering on his leg.  :o :D
