PATU DC65 CHIPPER
« on: December 10, 2013, 03:43:53 PM »
Patu DC65 Wood Chipper / woodchipper / Brush Chipper. Hydraulic in-feed, 4 knives, PTO powered w/ slip clutch, 3pt. mounts, adjustable shoot. Takes up to a 6.5in tree, need 35-40hp tractor to run it. Blades recently sharpened (approx. 3-4 hrs of run time). Pretty simple machine, needs a little tinkering, hydro leak at either the valve or motor (haven't looked too deep - saw a leak when hot then swore!), forward reverse lever on in-feed needs adjusting (not attached works fine without it, just not safety). I Can help you load it.

$2,450 or BRO

5% of sale will go to the forum.  I'm in NH (southern not far from Manchester) and willing to demo the units strengths and weaknesses).  Willing to trade toward a 6ft or larger bush hog (must have slip clutch).

Thanks,

Matt

Ha! :D  I was just drooling over that chipper the other day, on CL too correct?  Or Uncle Henry's maybe?  I'd love to have that but not enough need and certainly not enough money. :(  Good luck with it, GSMP!

I have the same chipper (without hyd. feed) from when I was a dealer. It has a 6.5" capacity and requires 25 HP to run properly. Those with a smaller tractor can use as small as a 15 hp, but would need to remove 2 of the 4 chipping knives. The knives are easy to sharpen (I use a belt sander) and my knives still have at least 95% of the knives remaining after 15+ yrs of use. It gets used several 20-40 hrs each year. (No mine is not for sale, I just wanted to help those thinking about buying this a little info.
These are great units, high quality from Scandinavian Europe, I think it was Denmark or Norway.

Thanks guys, I've had it for a little while and it's a neat little unit just don't use it that much and when I do need to chip it's usually with a tow behind unit that a friend has.  Needs a little tinkering to be factory, but like me, it's pretty simple!  Thanks for the knowledge about removing knives for smaller HP tractors maple flats.

I always wonder if I could run one of those from the pto from my '58 Chevy pickup.  Hey, that 283 is supposed to have a couple of hundred hp....

These chippers are designed to run at RPM from 540 -1000. Can you achieve something in that range?
I remember a show called Rt 66, featuring a vintage Corvette. In one episode they removed one tire and ran a belt to power something to help a widow lady (of course). I don't recall what they were powering but it did the job. Seems like it might have been a thrasher or something similar.

My tractor is normally humming a nice tune when running this, I don't think I'd wanna be the one tryin' it off the 58!  Not saying it wouldn't work, it just might be a bit scary...

Is this unit still for sale? Does it have its own hydraulic pump or run off tractor hydraulics? Please contact me if still for sale
