You may notice my secret positioning. Danny was getting an upper hand on the situation as I was distancing myself. It is an evasive maneuver I practiced for year while flying ag planes. That maneuver was increased at the beginning of my sensitive part of training.

But you guys are trying to break me down. I am not sure of the reasoning for this and I expect the meaning to surface soon.

Interesting results from some of the lumber sawn at this last Sycamore Project.  Here is a pic of the original stack fresh off the saw.  (Please note, I have already been scolded about the long stickers  :)).

 .

Half of this stack was pulled down and put in the kiln.  A week ago, the rest of the lumber was put in the kiln.  This second pallet that went into the kiln was on the bottom in the kiln with another pallet of pine on top of it providing a lot of weight on the top layer.  Here are some pics of that second pallet.  The boards on the top layer were actually the bottom layer in the original stack. This top layer in these pics was on the bottom of the original stack with 20 layers of weight on top of it.

Here it is looking from the side.

The top layer was flat sawn, and the first board in the next to the top layer on the left.  The middle board in the third layer was also flat sawn.

Here it is looking from the end.

My experience has been that with sycamore, if you do not quartersaw it, don't bother  :-\.  I remember that Hackberry Jake had some good results by using it for roof laths put on green and nailed down.  I could not imagine using it for anything else.

Oh, the joys of spiral grain  :'(.
