Urbanization
« on: April 30, 2014, 11:47:33 PM »
Everyday I passed a stand of of what appeared to be mostly spruce and poplar on my way to work. It provided a nice barrier between a subdivision and two very busy roads. Thursday morning it was there, Friday morning gone. In it's place was an excavator and a very large chipper sitting among piles of dirt and brush.
Probably going to be another bank of row houses or a small strip mall with a gas station and 7-11. They obviously made no attempt to harvest any timber in such a short time. Sad really. Like the song said you don't know what you have got until it's gone.
old age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm

Right you are.  "take paradise & put up a parking lot."  I hate to see it, too.  Lots of money to be made, and lots of people who want to make it!
