I get a lot of calls for white oak but have none. I'm working on fixing that situation.  I had a nice meeting with the owner of the large mill/concentration yard yesterday. We walked the yard, looked at logs and went over pricing. They are going to let me hand pick all of my logs and are being very reasonable on pricing. I feel very lucky,  this place is huge. Probably about 10 acres of logs piled 20ft high and they have never let someone like me do this. Also said he would deliver any size load I bought for 350 bucks if I didn't want to haul it myself.

Sounds like a business deal in the making Bs.

Sometime I wish that I was in the selling business and the opportunity is certainly there.  Harvest trees from my property, add value, and then market.  (Kinda sounds like WDH's business plan.)  I could but I won't.  I'll let Marty take that step.

At my age I am content to "just saws um and leaves um".  ;D

E-Tex,

With the exception of the temperature that looks like it was a real nice two day sawing job. It appears the customer had support equipment and plenty of help pulling boards off the mill and stacking. Your customer had some decent logs and looks like he got some real nice lumber.
One thing I noticed is the wooden toolbox you have strapped to the mill bed. I don't know the the laws in your state but in Nebraska my DMV says my mill is considered a piece of equipment that is not required to be licensed. However DMV also advised me that if I place anything on the bed of my mill (that's not part of the mill itself) and haul it down the road it is considered to be a trailer and is required to be licensed.
Not sure if your laws are similar but would hate to see you find out the hard way.

I think that is the case here as well......but I took a chance until I figure out how to haul it all better.  Finger's crossed.

forgot to mention......I also used the Cotton Picker Spindle Lube and had zero pitch build up (still mixed a little Pine Sol and Dish Soap).  Blades were still nice and shiny.  Thanks YH

Lance, I am thinking a metal box painted the right color Orange and with a couple of dummy hydraulic hoses attached.  Maybe even a high voltage warning sticker.

Sawed some white pine that a friend had lying around for awhile. Blue stain and borer holes add character right? Some of the pine was beautiful.  Had a little oops as well.  Doug
