Wanted to post a pic of some drawers a customer made for a credenza that used some quartersawn sycamore that we cut this Project.  Even though the sycamore was used to make the inside of the drawers, it is still makes a statement.

People(like me) that open drawers to see how well-made a piece of furniture is will be astounded, for generations to come I would think.

Wow indeed.

If it were mine, I would leave the drawers open so that people could see the inside  :D.

Jake and I cut some more about 2 months ago that was very nice.  Need to get some of it in the kiln soon (hint, hint  ;D).

I thought you were going to announce the next project. I was going to give you the dates I'm working so you will know when to schedule it while I'm gone. I haven't been able to make one yet.  >:(

I think that is a great application for qs sycamore, as well as a historical one. I was told it was used that way because of it's stability, once it was dried, that is. We had a discussion at work last week about using highly figured woods in furniture and cabinetry. Less is more was our conclusion. My coworker has a lot of cabinet making experience, and all of his cabinets are painted. :D Using too highly a figured wood can distract from not only the furniture, but the room as a whole. As one friend of mine commented regarding a room covered completely in qs sycamore: "It's like living inside a woodpecker's nest!".  :D

Dave,

Yes, it can be busy in excess.

Lee,

We would be honored if you could come down for the next project.  It is a mite far away for you, though.

Wow, I may have briefly handled a piece of that drawer sycamore.  Small world.

I thinking some time in late March on the next project.

I was thinking it was an announcement for the next project as well!  Still, when I look at those drawers and know that I actually HAVE some of that wood in my possession, it makes me HAPPY!  8)

Is that a challenge?

You bet your bippy it is!  It might be my only chance to ever meet you in person, so I guess it was more of a challenge for Jake. ;)
