Leaving the nest
« on: July 04, 2015, 04:40:37 PM »

We have two robin's nests in the yard, one hatched this morning, the  other is emptying out. Interesting to watch the older ones. The nest walls collapsed from the weight of four fledglings, one of them was standing on the ledge as there was no room inside. The mother is bringing food, she will give them some then fly away with the rest trying to entice them to follow. So far two figured out the drill, two are left. Once the nest is emptied, I will clean it up and secure a piece of fine screen over the window opening. It is directly over the front entrance door, our comings and goings disturb them too much.
old age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm
