That's a bunch of money for a gas 40.  A fool and his money are soon parted!

I Thanks for posting.

As I said, watching these auctions will be an indication of where used prices are.

That's over priced compared to new. Plus 13% buyer's premium!

The LT70 10 years old and 47hrs w/faded paint brought $67.5k. I think + commission. This was the machine Marty had a Shade Gap Pa. Seems like he should be happy.

So basically 10,425 more to get now and not want to wait

At Rebel Auction about a hour from me their buyer fees have a max on them. I don't remember what they are but since they sell a lot of bigger construction and farm equipment your fee only goes so high. It helps when folks are buying a D10 or some such. Don't know if these other auctions are the same way.
Two LT70s, Nyle L200 kiln, 4 head Pinheiro planer, 30" double surface Cantek planer, Lucas dedicated slabber, Slabmizer, and enough rolling stock and chainsaws to keep it all running.

Auctions are not nearly the "fun" that they used to be. The auction guys have gotten awfully greedy. I guess it fair to blame the idiots with more money than sence as well.

LT 40 fully hydraulic for sale in Colchester VT for $19,000.  Just saw it on Craig's List, posted 7 hrs ago.  Worth the drive fm Iowa?  All the best, Rob.
If you have time, you win....

Wow....someone else auctioning a brand new LT40.
Either people are speculating that they can make money because of the shortage, or mills that got ordered during the pandemic are no longer wanted when they finally get delivered.

The description says that it came "right from the factory" so I wonder if the auction house bought it thinking it would be an easy flip.

Although it's fun thinking about the strong used value of my future WM mill, I can't help but think in about 3 years there are going to be a glut of lightly used sawmills coming on the market. I'm already seeing it occasionally on CL in my area, brand spanking new mills still on the crate in some cases listed for retail... but how many more are coming once demand cools?
Woodmizer LT40 wide remote (on order)
WM MP360
Kubota L47 TLB
Mini forklift
Lots of trailers and a big diesel to tow them
Laguna resaw/power feed
Various small machinery, 40hp RPC, 20hp RPC, and so on...

Here's an alternate way to look at it.
For 10k over factory price you can get a new mill now off one of the speculators.
Or for 10k you can be sawing tomorrow against a year away.
That's $800 a month, or 2000 BF a month at 40 cents per to cover the premium over a year, but if you finance over 5 years it's down to 400bf a month extra.

Infation means a new mill next year will have eaten some into that $10k premium anyway.
Throw that on a rising interest rate means the monthly payment on the factory new unit in a year mightn't be so much less than the $10k extra mill now. Lumber price will also likely fall in that 12 months.

If you're an established business in need of a new or another saw, that 10k extra for a saw right now actually makes a lot of sense. Just saying
The quickest way to make a million dollars with a sawmill is to start with two million.
