Looking at changing the lawn tractor drive belt.  8hp engine in front with pto deck and fan cooled transmission rear.  Has anyone used the segmented adjustable length belt vs the oem belt 60.25 inches. Fits from the engine to the transmission.

What would be the advantage to the segmented belt?

It looks like the steering and clutch idlers are a basket weave to put the belt through.  A segmented belt could possibly be fished through and spliced easier.

Do you have the JD L108 or the JD 108 ?

If the L108, then some "remove and install" are necessary, according to this link

I doubt that a segmented belt would have the right profile as this drive belt runs on v-sheaves on the back side as well as the front. The JD belt looks to be about $26 and expect the segmented would be much more than that.

I have the 108 not the L108.  The steering column and some belt guide pins need to come out.  The clutch idlers are flat so they would ride on the front and back of the belt.  The thing is light enough to turn on its side but a small area to work in above the deck.
