Rottne Rapid EGS harvester
« on: October 29, 2015, 08:10:54 PM »
We picked up a 2000 Rottne harvester for a spare machine. It has a 6 cylinder John Deere engine in it and seems to me that the working rpm's are set way too high on this machine. I was wondering if anyone knows what the proper rpm's are for this machine for processing with a Logmax 5000 head on it.

1800rpm what little bit of a tech manual i have is in the machine. it was either 1800 or 1850. mine has the iveco motor. i set mine at 1550. i have some of the tech manuals such as they are there are pretty basic. rottne us emailed them to me if you want them let me know. dose it have air over hydraulic brakes? hopefully not.mine has been pretty good and it seems to stand up well

1270d the engine is a 6068 John Deere. Snowstorm the machine came with 1994 manuals and said to run it 1700 to 1950 wasn't sure if that was the same for the Deere. Right now it is turning up 2450 and the poor engine is screaming to my mind.... just a waste of fuel. Yes it's air over hydraulic, why you have much trouble with that system?

i have some of the operators manual i am sure it said 1800 with deere power. then i also found the spec for the iveco that was 1800 and 1950 for the ford bsd engine. the tach runs off the alternator on mine and was off quite a bit compared to my photo tach. the idea of having a air compressor may sound good  but it makes little volume. there was a couple of front brake setups depending on the axle. mine is spring applied air released its weak. dose yours have a 2" round button on the floor towards the crane? that will supply air to the bogie brakes. tap brake petal to relese

Same engine in other equipment we ve had all had a top rpm of 1800 to 2000.     2450 sounds way to high.  Seems like a harvester would be happy in the 15-1800 range.   Does it run a gearbox pump drive or direct drive?

I dropped it down to 2000 rpm today and still sounds a bit too high to me still so i'm going to try it at 1800 when I get it in the bush. We have a 1070 Timberjack and that machine runs at 1700 (5.9 Cummins) and is dirt cheap on fuel. Far as I can tell the Rottne runs a drop box which is on the back of the engine and has the working pump and the trans pump together( side by side) not stacked like the Timberjack/ Deere setup. No snowstorm there is no button on the floor of this machine. I spent the day removing broken bolts from the loader turntable, everyone tells me the reach is too long and they will pop the bolts, all of the ones we looked at had the extensions welded shut.

you must have the newer style crane. sorta looks like the one on a tj with a swing motor?yes there a gear box with a dry clutch. mine will start at -15 without happy gas if i release the clutch. when you jack the cab up you will a small sliver box just above the batteries that is hooked to the travel pedal. with a bodin wire sticking out the left side. there is a reostat in there for travel speed and it allso controls the frame lock. if anything touches the wire it derails it. there is a sleeve with 2 snap rings. if you ever have travel problems thats the first place to look.

Best bet to unbolt the whole crane bearing and lift it up enough to clean the mating surfaces very well.  We used a sanding pad on a air grinder.    Almost impossible to keep bolts from breaking once any dirt and debris has worked its way in between.   Do you know if the pumps are over driven?   This might be important to know so pumps don't overspeed, if that's possible..

Hey there. I picked up a 92 Rapid EGS harvester (4cycle ford). First machine so it's all new to me. Everything worked until the weather got cold. My bogey drive doesn't want to engage. I have power at the cab switch. I believe its air activated. I figure the lines were froze, got some airline antifreeze and still nothing. Looked through the books. I would like to manually engage it. I am pretty green, I would like to locate the hyd.valve/solenoid and check power there. Anyone else ever lose their wagon drive?
