At least I hope so.
The guy I am hauling logs for right now had a slow start, and is just now getting back on his feet sort of.
He is shovel logging with a trackhoe, contract cutting for the mill.
He had a slow start, due to no truckers to haul his logs, I told I would help him if I got a chance, but was busy. The guy I was hauling for had a major breakdown, so I have been helping him, for a guy with a trackhoe and a couple of saws, he actually gets quite a bit done.
His bad luck started saturday, the heater motor smoked in his hoe, not a good thing in Alaska, but not a show stopper either. It actually turned out to be a blessing. (more later)
Sunday evening late, my son was here and got a call from him, asking him to come out 9 miles in on the log road and haul him out, he had smacked a moose, with his nearly new powerstroke. Not bad, didn't even bend it up, but took out the grill, ac condensor and the radiator, so it is out of commission for a few days.
Yesterday his son was off work, so went to the woods to help him, sometime late yesterday evening he somehow managed to get a tree on him, oinning his foot till he could cut it off.
He was falling down hill from the road while his son was running the hoe uphill from it. His toes got cold, running the hoe with no heater, so he walked down to the road, to warm up in the pickup, but realized he couldn't hear the saw so yelled out for his dad, who yelled back for him to come carry the saw.  (which it was kind of a blessing that the heater quit.
He called about 5:30 this morning to tell me not to head out today, but called back at 6:30 and said he was loosening up some, so come on out for a load.
He was lucky nothing was broke, but ppeared to be pretty stove up this morning.
Old LT40HD, old log truck, old MM forklift, and several huskies.
