do they have different type of carbs an cilinder/pistons?

Can anyone tell me where to find the proper specs for the 038 av super?

Just in case i need to order a new carb and/or cilinder/piston

A good Stihl dealer can find all that for you. I've  owned all 3 versions of the 038 ( except the 038SuperII) which was a lead up to the 038 Magnum.
038AV introduced in 1980 with 61cc. Memory is struggling here 038 Super introduced in 1983 with 67cc.
038 Magnum introduced in 1985 with 72cc.
MS380 and MS381 sold in other parts of the world.

Well  lets see, there are i think 6 different carbs and three cylinder and piston sets between the 5 038 versions. Most of the carbs are no longer available from Stihl so its rebuild time. The cylinder sets are available.

Jim do you remember those Bing carbs that were recalled when the Magnum was first introduced?
If you don't it probably didn't effect you guys in Texas.
The German made carbs weren't compatible to some grades of North American fuel.
The reps were scrambling .
