Sprucebunny, inside gunfire will work if small caliber. I have an old .22 revolver that I use snake shot in. Does not do much damage. My wife said that is a matter of opinion, she didn't care for it. I figured a LITTLE bit of paint off the dryer was not too bad for positive results. The house we live in now we have never had any problems. My son-in-law has the pistol now. My daughter is not too crazy about. She said she guessed it was true" You marry a man just like your father"

PS. Pretty good son-in-law, decent shot.

Another effective method Norm used to use was back when we had a big yellow lab named Jordon. Well Jordy loved to hunt, so when he saw Norm get out the guns he was always right there at his side. One day he joined Norm out for a ground squirrel hunt, but wasn't having much fun, since Norm was just shootin the ground  ::), so Norm took heart and went after a can of diesel. Norm would pour some diesel down the hole, and out would pop a ground squirrel!  :o
Jordon thought this was great fun catching the deisel covered little rodents. After that whenever Jordon smelled diesel, he would get all excited.  :D

See now my wife's just the opposite. When she smells diesel she get pist :( cause I got it on me and probably getting on something else in the house. Sure wish she was more like Jordy. Getting all excited and such. :D

I like the smell of deisel but I REAlly like the way a person (preferably male) smells when they's been running a chain saw. Will even put up with sawdust and mud for that. Course it might grow old...
Startin to wish I had moles so I could try the propane thing ;D
Mice are living in an outside wall. Can smell them but it might take more than one shot. Might as well disassemble the wall first rather than after it's ventilated.

Gotta ask about the cats...............are they catching moles or shrews???
Haven't seen a cat catch a mole, but have shrews show up on the decks ALL the time, with a few chipmunks mixed in.  ;D

We used to drop moth balls down the mole holes at my grandma's, she said it worked. I'd always drop a few in the vertical tunnels just for the heck of it.

We have used the water hose and milk jug trick on chipmunks before. Block off one exit hole and stick the hose down the other. Turn the water on for a minute or two, then pull out the hose as you stick the neck of a milk jug down the hole real fast. Chipmunk in a jug!  ;)

One of my predecessors as County Forester tells the tale that back in the 1950's, he was at his county forest warden's home one day.  They were sitting in the living room talking, when a mouse started running along the baseboard against yon far wall.  The warden whips out a  hidden 9-shot .22 revolver he kept beside the cushion in his chair and starts blasting away at the mouse across the room, perforating the wall in the attempt.

Said mouse escaped, said forester never again visited said Warden, and also kept a good eye on him after that.

Both my dad, and my grandpa used to plant mole beans around the edge of their yard.

Ain't never heard of mole beans.

Well, today I went out to the colonies of mole hills and shoved mothballs down into their tunnels. I had expectations of them burrowing to the surface gasping for air as I whacked them with a re-rod. But nope....nothing. The earthworms sure came out of the ground though. I reckon I'm going to pour some gasoline down a tunnel.....wait a bit and then light it. Or maybe use Norm's shotgun method. Norm, I have a question. It's too cold to drink cold beer while waiting for the moles to push the dirt up.....is a few shots of Jack OK?

Sorry Charlie,...........(been waitin years to say that 8))

Hmm, guess  I should a said 'CASTOR BEAN' instead a 'MOLE BEAN'.

http://davesgarden.com/pdb/go/70/

Ya need to know that the plant is highly poisonous in it's natural state. Reportedly ' but 2 to 6 beans from this plant will KILL an adult person'. I never knew of nobody getting poisoned from one but they are highly poisonous.  Both the roots, and the seeds are poisonous to moles.

"Castor Oil" is made from the seeds.

I also found out a few years ago the  deadly poison '"ricin" is made from them.

On the up side it makes a really pretty unusual looking plant that grows big, fast.

I never tried to grow none myself cause of my kids but my dad was growing em up to a couple a years ago. I wouldn't be afraid to if I had a mole problem, and didn't have kids.  I never knew a farm type animal such as a cat or dog or chicken messing with, and getting poisiioned. I think my dad  quit growin em when he found out 'ricin' was made from em even though it has to be lab made.

Just found out that if you let em go to seed they can become invasive in some areas.

I'd also like to point out that the taste of 'Castor Oil' is awful.  I think that's why they used to give it to you when you was sick.  Even if it didn't help you'd want to hurry up and get well so's yer mom would quit forcing it down you.!

Charlie I looked in my book "How to Kill Moles For Dummies" and it specifically stated if cold weather sets in you can substitute a little JD mixed with a good cup of hot coffee for the cold beer. ;D

I had a terrible problem with them little suckers until I put the new version of Diazinon on my yard.  They don't set foot in it anymore.  Now I wish I could get rid of them dang worms. >:(  I know, I know, "worms are good for your yard."  My yard used to be groomed like a golf course until those worms took over.  Anyone know how to kill worms?  I want my putting green back.  I don't mind aerating my yard once the worms are gone.

Oh!, I almost forgot.  My gandpa used the gasoline trick, I'm pretty sure it worked because the boom crack his foundation in a couple spots.  :D  I think he only used that method once.

Hmm, they're pale, slimy, not red, hermaphroties, and the adults are about 6-8" long.  Baby worms are much shorter and wear little booties on their feet.  ;D

Oh, I guess they are night crawlers.  There might be some markets available in the area.

Sure, I'm interested.

OK, getcha a couple of steel rods, better yet, copper, around " or so X 15" long. Take 2 wires, and attach 1 end to each rod. Attach a plug to the 2 wires, so you can plug it into an extension cord. Run an extension out into the yard and push the rods into the ground about 6 feet apart. Plug in the rods and getcher can or bucket ready.

Them worms will zoom to the surface as fast as you can catch them.

Migh jafta adjust the distance between the rods.

 I get a 5% commission. ;D ;D :D :D :D :D
