Tillaway,
Do you know when Oregon Dept. of Forestry posts the 4th quarter timber prices? Do they post the quarters based on calendar year or their fiscal year?

Do you live right there in Tillamook?

We commuted up there from Toledo for about 8 months while we were interim pastors at the Foursquare Church in Tillamook.

Do you happen to know Jim Reiger, he's a contract timber cutter up there?
Thanks

Tillaway

Calendar year, 3rd quarter was posted in October, 4th quarter will be posted in January.

I live a litle south, near Pleasant Valley, just south of the blimp base.  I work out of Tillamook.

I don't know Jim yet, but I am sure I will meet him soon.  I hope I don't get him mad at me. :o ;)

The Four Square church... is that right down from my office?

Yes I think the church is east from you, are you in the new facility they recently built east of town?
Jim's a great guy he also lives on the east end of Pleasant Valley.
How long have you been in Tillamook?
Thanks for the info. I am planning to log my property in the spring as soon as the ground dries out enough so that the loggers can get their equipment in. I only have about ten acres to log. With that money I plan on getting into the portable sawmill business.
Thanks again

Moved back to Oregon in September 03.  Astoria is where I started with ODF, managed to get a permanent job in Tillamook last January now I have been promoted to contract administrator.  My old unit was in the Wilson and Kilchis drainages, now I will be working in the Miami and Nehalem drainages up where the Spotted Owls, Marbled Murrellets, and the only Goshawk on the entire Oregon coast reside.

I will be working with the purchasers / loggers on the timber sales in that area.

The new building is real nice, paid for by timber dollars, not one penny from the tax payers.  ODF&W has the old one.

Another ? for Tillaway.

Are there any Pacific Yew trees being harvested anymore for Taxol (used in a cancer cure in the early 90's)?  Not too many years ago there were big contracts to harvest Pacific Yew in your neck of the woods, and the enviro's were afraid they would become extinct. Some big operations to take the bark off and process it for the Taxol. I was thinking that the 'taxol' is synthesized now, and doesn't require the tree anymore. Any info you are aware of?
Thanks

No need for Yew anymore.  They figured out how to synthesize Taxol pretty quick.  I can remember only one season of harvest.
