Madawaska shut down their #3 machine this year and laid off a few people.  The rest of the place is afraid for the next shoe to drop.
Twin Rivers also got a bunch of concessions in regards to Tax from the Town of Madawaska.  Everyone else had to pick up what the mill used to pay.  It was substantial.  There is a couple dozen Camps for sale on Long Lake because taxes are too high now.

burrows  is right here local in little falls ny they haven't bought wood in years right on the rail line they buy fluff from other mills years ago when I was a boy they bought wood and reloaded on the rail to go to finch in glens falls we have no pulp market here till they get done cutting the old company land off maybe 5 more years till they run out of wood to cut then the state gets it all then no one will ever cut again

I hope there raping it down to 6-8in on the stump this way most of us will be gone by the time it ready to cut again  something like that there should be some claws in there that it has to be cut even if it every 15-20 years apart the state is useless with there land the money they could make every year

How does that work? The paper company is selling the state the land as its being cut off? It's my opinion that states should own no land other than the land it takes for there office buildings. It will never happen but that's how I feel

IP, Finch, Champion and the rest of the paper companys that are no longer here have all sold off to various TIMOS most of the land lies within the ADK park 6 million acres of private and state owned land most sold off their conservation easements and they are cutting it hard mostly shelterwood style of cutting with a 100 year regrowth they are selling chunks to the state as fast as it gets cut there is no reason for them to pay taxes for a 100 years.

The worst of it is they are tearing out roads in some places to make foot access only in more of their forever wild areas. The waste of valuable timber in some of these areas is sick. It was sold with a 20 year fiber supply agreement about 10-12 years ago
