Insect prevention for firewood stacks? And general storage questions.

What do you worry about in your areas?

I'm in the PNW so lots of moisture ants and some termites...

All I have ever done was keep it stacked outside the barn under the overhang and under a tarp (the tarp is attached to the barns roof and anchored at the ground allowing for airflow). But I was just told not to do this and move the stacks away from any buildings.

I've noticed that most people on here are not covering or are just putting tin roofing on top of it.

What other stuff do I need to know?

I keep 4 cords under a roof overhang of my carport. never treat for bugs.

I keep 1/4 cord in the basement near the wood furnace. I occasionally spray it with raid because I noticed that left alone I wound up with a roach or 2. I never got an infestation tho.
