Yup, please go see the DOC!

The sawyer builder side of me says "Tough it out!"

The nurse side of me says, "You better get that wrist looked at by the doc."

Your choice, but do whatever it takes to make it quit hurting fast.

Yep, got a small chip off the end of a bone. :( Really nothing can be done other then a brace. As soon as the brace was put on, the pain level drop real low. ;D Been napping all day.

fishfighter,
I lost my daughter 12 years ago, just shy of her 26th birthday. The pain gets easier but the sense of loss is always there. To have the ability to go out and build something was great therapy for me.Be careful out there,it's not always easy to keep your mind on your work.
Best to you and your family.

I'm glad you got better with the pain level and I hope it stays getting better and you don't have lasting problems.  Chronic pain changes a person.

If it makes you feel any better:  I've got a bone chip floating around in an ankle from being pushed off the back of a trailer and rolling my ankle when I landed.  That ankle looks funny to this day, like a permanent swelling but doesn't give me any trouble.  It was mostly all better in 2 weeks after it happened.

I am 3/4 coonass, (French). Even though I don't speak very little broken French. :D  Courage, I have. I'm 4 1/2 years past the time the doctors told me and my dear wife I had less then 6 months to live. Hindsight, I think I would of died been much better. I just don't know. Maybe the Good Lord has plans for me. Just wish and pray he would let me know them.

I did get a little done today. Had to stop due to that DanG wrist.

Setting the rafters on 24" center. They are true 2"x6". Once I have them all in place, I will remove ceiling joist two at a time, flip them ( they are sagging). They are 2x6', spanning 16'. Not good. :( I will double them up and hope that should fix that problem. Most likely tie them on center to the rafters too. That should fix any sagging in the future.

Magicman

Yup, tie them to the rafters which will essentially make a truss.

Got some more work done and just about ready for  the roofing. Once I added the joist strong back down the center, that stiffing everything up. Thank God for C clamps. A lot of the ceiling joist had a lot of twist in them. The people that built the building for sure didn't know what they were doing. There is nothing square in it. Had to custom cut each rafter. >:( Some times "free" is not good. :o Didn't get any pictures, But I will today.

Magicman

Sounds like that wrist is doing better.

It is Lynn. The wrist ban brace is helping out a lot.

Got some roof on. ;D

Well, one side. Got to saw up some more 4/4 1x4s.

Started at the crack of daylight. Was nice and then the heat kicked into high gear. Quit at 11am. Had to jump on the lawn mower to cut up DanG leaves. Grass cracks under your feet when you walk in the yard. Still not a drop of rain all month. :o

fishfighter

Just about finished the roof.

Still have to box in the end eves and install the capping.

The bad/good thing today is that there is a 70-80% chance for rain. We having had a drop in over 30 days now. :o

At this point, I have less then $500 invested into this build. Most of that cost was for the metal roofing and screws. ;D Already have all kinds of wire and a breaker box that my son picked up off of jobs that they were going to throw away.

Magicman

That is turning out very nicely Paul.  I hope that you get shut down with rain today and then send me some.   ;D

I really like the steeper pitch on the roof and that siding.

Ok for me to move in, now?

Got the mill moved in temporary. So much for rain. >:( Maybe tonight?

I did a full swap of my bunks. Swapped the saw head around and moved the drive chain to the other side. Big can of worms I open up. ;D

fishfighter,

That's the first time I remember seeing actual dust in one of your build photos. That looks as dry as here! Looks a bit strange not seeing you slogging that tractor through mud to move stuff around.

That's looking great.  About ready for some sawdust to smother out the grass! 8)

When you walk in the grass, it cracks under your feet. :o

Got the last pieces of the roof up. just waiting on my SIL to install the capping.

Then I worked on leveling out the mill, realigning the bed rails and backstops and installing the chain drive.

If one is building something by their self, for $2 each at Harbor Freight, these are gold and a life saver as a second hand. ;D

Magicman

Your setup is looking good Paul, and yes, working alone requires much ingenuity as well as clamps.   ;D

I had did a improvement to it by adding some springs for tension on the drive motor chain. Had a rope at first and swapped it over to a chain. ;D

I will be adding a drive unit to raise/lower the saw head. In fact, did a very good look into doing that today. ;D That will be my next project. ;D

On a side note. For those that own a Woodland Mill. What ever you do, keep all the nuts and bolts on the track system clean of saw dust. By not keeping mine clean, the bolts corroded real bad in 2 1/2 years. >:( I had to break out a grinder on a bunch of them to remove. >:(  Maybe some paint on them will make them last longer.

K, all I have to do is remove the handle on my crank, extend it about 2" and install a gear. I had mounted the second drive motor on the crank side already. Just need to install a gear on it and install a chain. ;D

I am still using the controller that came with the chair. To control, all I have to do is engage what motor I want to run and disengage the one I don't ;D
