Was cutting some nice cookies out of this double walnut stump then everything came to a screeching halt.

That fitting has to be so old I'm surprised it had threads. Stump was about 30 x 42 and the fitting was obviously laid n the crotch before it was one stump.

Tre did a real nice job preserving it. Funny I thought black walnut was pretty acidic?

Looks like the elbows just need scrubbing. That tee is gonna take a lot of solder.

Once a wreck starts nobody is fast enough to hit enough switches and/or pull enough levers to get it stopped.

Also, the metal detector was hanging on a hook in the garage.

Yup, I cut into a 1/4" eye hook that apparently was used for a hammock.  The metal detector was sitting there in the back of my Jeep.  There was just a sliver of that hook left poking out of the bark.  Metal detector would have saved a blade for sure.

At the other extreme, I once tried to use my metal detector to locate a dropped bolt -- right where I do all my cutting and welding. Actually waved it over the area before I came to my senses. Beepity beepity beep beep beep.

Someone I work with told me I should mount the metal detector on the sawmill and have it shutdown if it sees something. I said thats a great idea. How do you suggest I mount it to the metal band saw?

Yeah, I can't wand anything on the mill bed because it picks up the cross bars.
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!
