Hi Everyone !  I'm new to the forum. However I've been checking it out for some time now.  Awhile back someone put a pic up of their saw. The chain was on backwards  and I was impressed that he wasn't made sport of. As for me ,I don't have a sensitive bone in my body so feel free to rib me. Also,I want my first topic for discussion to be a question from my wife actually. She asked me a little while ago, " Why does anyone need such a big chainsaw ?" I told her I found some people who might understand.

  Welcome  Twostroke ,

That's a big saw you got there . What  kind is it  ?  I  like the color scheme . Looks like a racin model .

Its An Alpina Super Pro 120. Made in Italy. 70's vintage. Up until I purchased this monster my biggest saw is a Homelite Super XL 925 which is 82cc. The Alpina is 120cc. The bar on it in the picture is a 60" Cannon. I also Have a 36" bar and lots of extra parts. Its a very cool saw and it starts right up within 2 or 3 pulls. But i have to admit i havent cut a thing with it yet. Im waiting for the right tree or maybe even some future milling.

Unlike the Alpina I have used this saw a lot. It was given to me a dozen or so years ago and it didn't run at all. The piston and cylinder were toast and the electronic ignition was also fried. I had the saw completely rebuilt. It runs very strong now. I'm sure in its hayday it was one of the better saws on the market.
