Uniformly Loaded Beam Overhanging One Support
This calculator checks a uniformly loaded beam resting over 2 supports, overhanging one of the supports. Load is entered per foot of beam. M1 is the bending moment at midspan between supports. M2 is the bending moment over the post adjacent to the overhang. D1 is the maximum deflection midspan between supports. D2 is the deflection on the outboard end of the overhang. A negative deflection is an upward deflection of the end. R1 and R2 are the loads on each support, these should be used to check for crushing of the beam to post connection and the post dimensions.
