Howdy, I just bought a slightly used logging winch from my father. a V4000 from fransguard. Its all hooked up to the tractor which is a Pasquali 492 (42hp articulating tractor)

I know you need to cut down PTO shafts. I've measured between the detents on both pto stubs. I have a measurement of 17" where the PTO shaft locks on to the tractor and winch. The shaft it came with is 22" from the locking points. So I would need to cut down the shaft by about 5 1/2 inches correct? Read More

I'm curious to those who have used both sawmills that are single piece welded versus bolted sections. is there a significant difference in the amount of adjustment and alignment needed to avoid bad cuts? Loaded a 23" x 14' hemlock on the mill last night and after the first cut went 180 degrees for second cut no problems. Tried to rotate again to make the third cut but could not get the log to sit against the stops perfectly square...off just slightly. The log had some nasty damaged bark on it from handling....

I qualify for hearing aids but hesitate to get them because of working and sweating with ear muffs on at the sawmill. I also have ear wax buildup which hearing aids could impact. Do any of you wear hearings aids at the sawmill and do you have problems?
