My cousin who does quite well In Buisness has a quote "There is no such thing as luck, It is making the right decision at the right time"
Quite true and a lot hard work to go along with the decisions.

In one week my parents come to CR for vacations, it's always nice to spend time with them. I will be several days away with them. i almost feel guilty, that's my third vacation this year, i'm turning into a slacker! well if i book my US pigroast visit as a Businesstrip then i'm good  ffcheesy .

sawing like a mad men, trying to finish all logs in a week and doing some minor stuff around the shops. did finish the missing door for the sharpening room (the bats were shi...ing all over the place).
when we are sawing we occupy a lot of space in the shed, i'm doing 7 different dimentions/ stacks right now.

This week was the big day! Thursday my container arrived at Tule Peak Teak in California, 2hours early at 6am, "ok off to a good start" Rob told me @tule peak timber. He had 4 guys hired and himself to do the manual unloading of 19 metric tones of Teaklumber. "did the guys show up"? that was my biggest concern because we were 4 people to load and lasted 6 hours and it is a colossal task.
Rob: "2 are here but the 2 mexican guys didn't show up", that was the point the day turned into a stressful endeavor. I was all nervous the whole day feeling it with them here in CR :uhoh: , Rob probably aged 10years  ffcheesy . then the back of the container shifted and it was a tangled mess with all the stickers between the lumber. or as Rob described it: " was like a freaking booby trap bomb in Vietnam"
Well, 11.5h later they finished and my admiration to them, that was brutal!

Next day i ask Rob; did the guys survive?
" One is dead and the other quit, me: i lost all of my hair!"

So it's not just here that you can not rely on people anymore to show up to work smiley_thumbsdown

Well, but all the lumber is nicely stacked and ready for storage and selling, great work Rob!

So if any of you guys need some Teakwood we have 11k bft ready for sale

First packs need some reorganizing and the stickers are a mess but that was to expect.

We also sell teak stickers!  ffcheesy

You forgot to mention the truck jackknifing and blocking the road at my driveway at 5:30 in the morning. I had to come down with a backhoe and chains to get him straightened out. It was an ominous start to the day.... :uhoh:

Nice looking wood. Lots of work to get it this far. Hope it's a win for both of you.

That's a big job to unload all that by hand, almost as big a job as loading it by hand!!

I don't know what's worse, that the truck jackknifed on the wrong driveway in the wrong state or that TulePeak needs to reload it all to bring it to Virginia.  I don't know how the two of you made such a colossal mistake in where to unload that wood. I'd also expect it all to be nicely re-stickered.

I still haven't received an updated shipping manifest.

While I am waiting ....what's our resident artist going to craft on his Mesa in CA?  Or are they still working on the casket?

Oh, you mean Rob's table built? I don't know how far he is inn on that project @tule peak timber. I know he has had some busy days

I was just wondering if he had to make a casket or if they were cremating the worker that died unloading the lumber.

On a serious note it's great you guys got that done.  I suspect you kicked that around for a while.

We finished collating and stickering one of the 40 foot containers today. Note the solar powered airflow as our EMC here is 6%. Lots of dogs around here  ffcool

Oh man, that's a ton of little sticks to handle!
Ok, maybe many tons. 😛
Rob, is that a solar panel above the open door on the seacon? What do the fans look like?
Also, will you want to kiln dry after the emc of the wood has come down to 6%?

I kiln dried all the lumber at my place to 10-12% but as we are at rain season the lumber goes back up to 13-14% the next day  taking it out of the kiln. As Rob lives in a desert like environment they have a 6% emc, so he has to sticker the lumber again and let the very dry air suck the rest of the moisture out

A pic of one of two solar fans that move air through the container. I wonder if anyone has done a study of higher temp kiln drying of teakwood and the effects on oil content, something akin to boiling off the light ends in crude oil. We put insect screening on the outside of both nacelles to keep out bees and wasps today. I will not be kilning this wood at all. Sterility is assured by USDA gassing of the shipping container. No message is associated with this attachment.

Rob, the pic didn't come through.  If you find something on high temp kiln recipes I'd be interested.  At some level I think you'd char the wood and cause a fire.  Therefore we we do thermalmodification in kilns (we as the industry not little CF in virginia) they control the oxygen levels somehow as they crank temps upwards.  You end up with a very nich light to dark chocolate look but it would ruin the look of teak, imo.

Thanks Rob, appreciate it.
I'm hoping that you'll start a "Totally Teak"  thread.
The combination of your creative imagination and that amount of high quality teak will make for some terrific projects!
