Was down at the mill last week just a cutting away on a order. I see a SUV coming down the hill slowly and stopping every few feet. It's obvious that someone was coming in with their GPS and it was telling them they were there a little early. This is normally the first sign that things aren't going to go well. Next they pull in the driveway and stop every 50 ft and look around some more. They look over at me sawing and just keep going up towards the house and I'm staring at a US gov tag on the back. It takes me about 5 min to finish the log and I hope on the buggy to go see what they want. As I pull up there he is getting out of the car and introduces themself as being from OSHA and that I didn't have a complaint. I inform him that we was up at my house and that I would talk business with him down at my business. We get down to the store and he ask how many employees I have and I answered with 1. He asked if he was kin and I said no. At this point he is technically not allowed to be at my place. (A point I learned latter from YH). He did inform me that there was nothing for him to do here so he took 4 pictures and got in his car and left. Read More

Has anyone here installed a debarker on a pre 97 LT40?
Aka one without the placeholder spots for the switches and other components?
If so what did you house them in and where did you mount them?
I'd add a photo of the control box but I probably have posted on a forum since around 05/06 and having lots of digital photos on hand wasn't really a thing, so I'm not sure how here. Read More

Hi all,

I searched but didn't find what I was looking for. I was watching a local expert's youtube channel. Said expert mentioned something like "gotta take the sapwood off cherry or it'll warp".

Is there any kind of basic "how to" guide for sawing different woods? Not the mill mechanics, but things like:Read More

I have a customer that wants to give me a few trailer loads of what he claims are 16" - 20" diameter white pine. It does not commonly grow near me, and I've never milled or marketed it.

Apparently his property is an old nursery and 50+ years ago the owners planted a lot of white pine around the property. The logs appear to be mixed grade with a lot of bumps on them, so probably would yield a #1 or #2 common lumber.Read More
