46° here and solid overcast with light rain plodding through until at least noon. Another grey day. We had sun yesterday morning up until around 2pm then it clouded over until we were socked in by 7pm. No light show here again.

No fire yesterday morning, but afternoon sun and open windows cooled it off a little, so made an evening smudge. I leave my bedroom window open from April onward until we get that heat and high humidity days. Late evening or a nice summer cold front and up she goes again.  ffwave  Could see some rain mid week, but so far their rain forecasts have turned into dry popcorn.  ffcheesy

Fiddle heads here are gone by now, 2 foot tall fronds now. And I never saw any last week up at a couple patches I have. Mom bought some from a neighbor, ate some, froze some, gave some away to a couple senior friends.

I never checked until 3:00 am this morning. If there was a show, it was over by then. Nice view of the milky way running from South to NE direction. Not a cloud in the sky here. Again.  ffsmiley

No regrets on getting the wide head. At the time it was only an $800 upgrade and worth every penny.

The Forum has collectively came to the conclusion that straight 30 weight motor oil at about a 16:1 ratio is optimum.

cfarm I used to spend weekends at my gram's house when I was growing up, one of the things I always remembered hearing was the whippoorwill singing away as I went to bed. Very fond memories.
Up until last year it had probably been 30 years since I heard that wonderful sound. As I came in the house tonight the question of if I'd hear one this year was on my mind. I hope so.

The old timers here say that's the all-clear to start planting. Have yet to see one...

I did fires and water on the ~pickup sized one mostly buried behind the barn. We won about 20 years later when it broke into small enough pieces to move.
