Changed the blade on the mill yesterday, 4th blade in 2 hours, 2 nail hits and 1 blade pop off, so I was getting a little frustrated and in a hurry. It's all tightened up and putting the covers back on and I'm thinking somethings wrong ......yep blade is on inside out, back of the blade is facing me. :uhoh:

We bought a new mower for the place this spring. I really don't do a lot of the lawmowing so it's called her lawn mower.  The only spot I mow is around my sawmill and below the barns.  So I took a swing over along the fence where I store some of my round bales. I figured I should knock the weeds back as I hope to be stacking hay bales back in there soon.
I use poly twine to tie the bales and I try to keep any odd pieces that fall off of the bales disposed of..... except this is one. I had fed one of the last  two year old bales i had left over before turning the critters out to grass and some had fallen off.  I now remember it happened and I thought I better go back and get that add two weeks and quite a bit of rain.....

It only took ten minutes laying on my back with the pocket knife to extract the twine. New mower didn't like the string trimmer option.  Only good part was Teresa didn't see me do it.   ffsmiley

I once found a garden hose that way.  It wasn't too bad however.  A sawzall is a helluva tool.

I wrenched in small engine shops, you wouldn't believe the number of times I had to do that because the machine 'just stopped'. ffcheesy

Your wife is wise.  By not mowing she deprives you of another opportunity to critize her mowing.

PatD loves to mow.  In the past I have gotten into some serious trouble by hopping on the ZT when that is what she was wanting to do.  :uhoh:

My wife is a mower too but the weed eater seems to not have the same appeal. smiley_thumbsdown

At least it was hay twine and not electric fence wire!

Especially that high tensile stuff in the bush hog that is really hard to cut with a side cutter or linesman pliers .....cutting torch works good.

Well the worst of these I have seen (and I have had plenty of rope, garden cloth, and other stuff tied up in my mowers) was helping get a piece of 1/2" rebar unwrapped from the tine shaft on a 20HP diesel rototiller.. It took 3 of us about 20 minutes, but it was kind of cool seeing the hopping pattern that machine preformed once it had that rebar flapping around. ffcheesy

I stopped to check out some free stuff by the road. Nothing I wanted so I drove off. It was warm out and I had the window down and I heard this clicking noise? Never heard that before. I stopped and there it was, some sort of clip about 8 inches long sticking to my tire. It had 2 prongs that stuck out about a half inch. Could not see that until I pulled it out of my tire.  smiley_devil_trident
So two holes in a tire.
$35 later and all fixed.  :wacky:
I don't fix tires. He had it done in 10 minutes.
Would of taken me that long just to jack up the truck.
Did you read that I found nothing I wanted?  :wacky:

Thankfully I was home and witnessed this evenings disaster of the weed eating goats opening a gate and heading up to the house, they were intercepted before the flower garden. I guess I didn't have the chain done up.  :veryangry:

Oh no! No pictures, time was not my friend.  I don't think they got any flowers, just a few munches of Black Hills Spruce needles.

Bert

Learned why they say to trim the PTO shaft to fit your tractor. I bought a 80's yanmar 22 HP tractor a few months ago because I needed the tiller that came with it. Well, tilling season is over so decided to see how the yanmar did with mowing. Took the brushhog I always used on another tractor and hooked it up to the yanmar. Shaft seemed a little long but it went on without much trouble. 1 lap around the field and raised it up over some stumps and the too long PTO shaft pushed the PTO stub shaft in about 2". Made terrible noise and all the hydraulic fluid ran out. I started tearing into it to see how expensive this dumb move was. So three hours and oil covered later I think I just knocked the retaining clip off the end of the shaft. Gears and all appear fine. Need to get some hyd fluid before trying it out again. AFTER I cut the PTO shaft.
Saw you tomorrow!

I managed to drive a PTO shaft to town to get fuel the other day while hooked to the tractor. Long story, involved multiple phone calls, empty fuel cans and a wee bit of absent mindedness. Thankfully no body knows.   ffcheesy

TimW

What was dumb about driving to town with the pto shaft hooked up?  I am baffled.

Well it was front half of the PTO shaft that the drives the mower. The coupler was stuck so I got distracted before I got the latch pin loose and the tractor had an extra tail that should've stayed back with the mower.
