Title: Being a "Forumite"
Post by: SawyerTed on January 25, 2022, 04:15:45 PM
So I was looking around at the stats area at the bottom of the main forum page.

Apparently, those who are members here are officially Forumites versus Guests.  Of course Guests can be both a Forumite and a Guest when not logged in.

I knew I am a member here but did not know I am a Forumite until today. :o :D  Oddly enough, I found out I am a Forumite exactly 4 years since becoming a member here.

Being a Forumite has been and continues to be educational!

Man, I thought you were a 'long timer' when I joined, but you just have 8 months or so on me. It's been a fun ride so far and except for that facial tick I seem to have picked up, it's all been good! :D

I'm not certain, but I think that's how I got the tick in the first place.

I suppose I had a different vision in mind when I posted about being a Forumite.  Something like the "rights and responsibilities" of being a Forunite.  But the trials and tribulations are fair game too.  :D

Hello my name is Ted, I'm a Forumite....

Ted,

Have you tried sawdust milk shakes? I hear they help.

Tom,

Have you tried Flea and Tick collars? They work good on Sampson, my Rat Terrier and world famous catfish hound.

Well, I guess I've been a forumite for about 7 1/2 years.  I never knew.  I'm rarely a guest.

I've had plenty of sawdust grit in my Nabs and Sundrop?  And my pockets seem to forever have sawdust and lumber crayons in them.

Hi Ted. ;D
Sorry, my bad, I misunderstood To your point, yes, no doubt this has been educational to say the very least. In fact I would go further and say that I would not be doing what I am doing today were it not for the forum. Oh sure, I'd be stumbling along in the same general direction, but the folks here cut years off my learning curve and some have become good friends, both online and in person. It's hard to quantify that kind of value.

Tom. No apologies necessary.  It's the nature of the online world we live in today.   If we don't recognize how others can go a different way, then we are in for a lot of online hurt feelings.

As for that ticking.....could it be too much coffee and FF? :D

Have any of you folks went back and looked T the reason for joining for people that have been here so long we didn't require a reason? The years before the internet forum spammer explosion.

That was some of my finest work here. :)

Indeed, about a year ago, glass of bourbon in hand I did peruse many of these and had a good chuckle. All I thought was 'Jeff was having way too much fun that day." :D

That would be Vegemite. An Australian food spread made from leftover brewers yeast, vegetables, and spices, having a thick brown consistency. Was made famous by Colin Hay of "Men at Work" in 1981 in the song "Down Under". ;D

At least we don't have to wear a fez to be Forumite!  Other nerdy things like safety glasses, chainsaw chaps and pocket protectors optional. :D

You guys be careful and don't refer to it as a Fraternal Organization or certain members of the fairer sex will be chiming in with an electronic rolling pin in hand. :D

Speaking of the "fairer sex", according to the statistics page on the FF, 1/3 of us are women. That surprises and pleases me.

oops. Had a decimal off. it's about 3%. That doesn't surprise me.

Yes, is suppose cooties is appropriate.  I never have been around members of the fairer sex who may have had other kinds.
