Toe Board

I have a Turner portable mill and need to add a toe board. I'm thinking about using a Harbor Freight 2-1/4 ton scissor jack? Is anyone using this jack and what's the experience? And, will an 18 volt hammer drill raise the jack with a medium size log load?

I didn't use a ball screw scissor, but I did use a hand pump hydraulic 2 ton floor jack and it worked great with even big logs.

You will find there toe board scissor with a one ton hydraulics jack. This what I have   and I find it very good. ( the like hydraulics jack is ,made in china but the rest is local engineering.... 

This toeboad is moveable so normally I like to saw with the small end of the log on my side but if one log is on the wrong orientation if just move it.

This allow you to position it at the place you might prefer for ergonomics reason if I'm doing 16' footer versus 8' I would move it closer to end of my log and the log dog....

Simple and flexible.

I use a floor jack to lift log level and then shim.   I use an engine lift to turn the log.

I have seen on the many sawmill vids I have watched one like you describe.  So yes it can be done.

If you go the scissor jack route, get the jacks from an auto salvage yard, from heavy trucks or vans.

Everything from HF is garbage.
