Well, despite my 1/1 drawing my joints are not perfect. Wondering why.

Will they close a bit with draw boring???

With drawboring, it's only going to tighten up on the long point. The gap at the short point is only going to get wider as the brace and post dry, the same as on standard bracing.

I'll try to modify my angle a bit on the next two. Tho, it's funny, i don't know where i've done the mistake. I have 76.4 cm on the short side, while  scale 1 drawing calls for 76.2cm. And i still have gaps on the short side. The thing is square, which means that it must be all right. Angles are 30°/60°. And i can tell you my tracing is not lousy. I've changed my usual method of having the top arm split and bolted. I haven't done any of thoses with diminshed haunches for a fair while.

Here lies the answer, the wood was wet.  It is rapidly losing moisture and shrinking now that the birds are no longer singing in it.  The timbers do not shrink as much in length as in girth, therefore you have a gap on the short side of all angled cuts.  This is one way to differentiate between frames built with green timbers and frames built with seasoned or recycled timbers.  It will likely get even worse as it continues to reach equilibrium.

Well, it's more of a lousy craftsman's work than anything else. At least i know they will hold.
